Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : No Dust Jacket. Frohawk, F. W. (illustrateur). 1st Edition. "With 24 Coloured plates illustrating 475 specimens"; pp. 105. The 254 chromolithographic plates are all very good and with the original tissue guards a few marked; half-title & title pages. Original two-tone green cloth binding with gilt lettering, very good with a little general wear and rubbing only. Contents clean and tight, inscription in ink to the top of the half title dated 1904, original end-papers toned and a little brittle around the edges, slight spotting to title page and the odd page edge, some rusting to staples running down the spine of the first few gathers, plates clean. A very good copy. The plates used in different editions of this work are not standard and vary in quality, this particular edition includes plates printed to a high standard, and importantly the eggs are illustrated with shadows giving a particularly 3-dimensional look: they are in our opinion superior to some earlier editions. Size: 4to (22 x 29cm). Book.
