INSCRIBED in red cloth with white decoration and titling, inscribed by author on 2nd front endpaper - dated November 17, 1905 in New York City, decorated endpapers, illustrated, includes Chinook Jargon vocabulary as last chapter, 284pp. Howes #F56. Good- with spotting/wear and hinges starting (see photos). Narrative of the author's experiences on campaigns against the Indians during the development of the West. He is particularly known for his service in the Sheepeater Indian War. Farrow was a graduate of the West Point Military Academy in 1876, and was a commanding officer of Indian Scouts in the Departments of the Columbia. Originally published in 1881 under the title "Mountain Scouting A Hand-Book for Officers and Soldiers On The Frontiers." The 1st edition is quite pricey. Inscribed by Author(s).
