In-12 de (29) ff., 226 pp., (1) f. de privilège, (1) f. d'errata, veau marbré, plats ornés de filets dorés, dos à nerfs très finement orné et doré, coupes et bordures décorées, tranches dorées (Ch. De Samblanx, 1913). Édition en petits caractères donnée l'année de l'originale par Léonard, libraire bruxellois et Michallet, détenteur du privilège. Comme la première édition, dont elle reproduit le texte cartonné, elle renferme 418 Caractères. Jean de La Bruyère (1645-1696) est l'homme d'un seul livre. C'est un recueil anonyme dont les rééditions successives, subtilement modifiées et augmentées jusqu'à sa mort produiront un des best-sellers du XVIIe siècle. Entre 1688 et 1696, on passe de 418 remarques, maximes et portraits, à 1120. Bel exemplaire bien établi par Charles de Samblanx. De la bibliothèque Alfred Lindeboom avec ex-libris.
