Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. Minor edge and corner wear; no dj; lightly scuffed and scratched; corners are gently bumped and rubbed; some light shelf wear; ex-library with the usual library markings; overall a nice used copy! Color illustrated boards with black lettering. 308 informative and educational pages nicely enhanced by black and white photographs and illustrations! "It is widely recognized that global warming is occurring due to increasing levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Methods of capturing and then storing CO2 from major sources such as fossil-fuel-burning power plants are being developed to reduce the levels emitted to the atmosphere by human activities. The book reports on progress in this field and provides a context within the range of natural absorption processes in the oceans and forests and in soil. Comparisons with alternative energy sources such as solar and nuclear are made and policy issues are also reviewed. This topical book is multi-authored by experts ensuring expertise across the full range of this highly technical but mainstream subject. It is cutting edge science and technology presented in a highly readable form along with an extensive bibliography.".

Ajouter au panierTaschenbuch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The growing energy demand in developed and developing countries has caused concerns regarding the anthropogenic addition of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Over the past century, the global surface temperature has increased by approximately 0.8 C, which is mainly due to increasing the atmospheric carbon dioxide level from 280 ppm to approximately 400 ppm. Improving energy efficiency and promoting energy conservation techniques, switching to low carbon fuels, utilizing renewable energies, as well as carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) strategies, are the major approaches to mitigating global climate change. Mineral carbonation is one of the CCS methods, which involve an exothermic chemical reaction between carbon dioxide and a metal-bearing oxide such as CaO, MgO, and/or iron oxides to form stable solid carbonates. Red gypsum is one of the most important industrial wastes that are produced from titanium dioxide manufacturing industry where ilmenite is used as a raw material. Red gypsum as the source of calcium and iron ions can be used as a potential feedstock for securing carbon dioxide from atmosphere through calcium carbonate and iron carbonate production.

Ajouter au panierTaschenbuch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Climate change by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide, has led to increase attention to the carbon sequestration through the restoration and protection of vegetation cover. In this regard, ecosystems of arid regions have a special importance. According to the Tokyo Protocol, a participatory model of carbon sequestration projects was implemented with the aim of reducing greenhouse gases in developing countries, including Iran. The International Carbon Sequestration Project addresses issues related to natural resources, carbon sequestration and green space development, and the conservation of natural resources with the full participation of local people. All of world countries including Islamic Republic of Iran have to control their carbon dioxide emissions in near future. Capture and storage of carbon dioxide may be considered as a recent technology to reduce greenhouse emissions resulted from human industrial activities. As the rate of carbon dioxide production is always greater than its rate of consumption, enormous amounts of unused carbon dioxide have to be stored in high capacity reservoirs.
