Reliure de l'époque de plein veau glacé blond, filets à froid encadrant les plats, dos à nerfs orné de filets à froid, caissons d'encadrement en pointillés dorés, fleurons dorés, semis de cercles et d'étoiles dorés, pièce de titre de maroquin havane, titre doré, dentelle dorée sur les coupes, toutes tranches rouges. ''Les vers grecs et latins du savant Huet ont ici été recueillis par d'Olivet''. (in Quérard). Absent de Brunet, Manuel du libraire et de l'amateur de livres - Quérard IV, La France littéraire, p. 153. Angles émoussés. Coiffes arasées. Dos présentant un éclat légèrement altéré. Quinta editio. (24), 137, (13) pp. Contemporary full-calf with sprinkled edges, marbled endpapers, inner and outer dentelles and five raised bands. Front joint with shallow, 5 cm crack at head of spine, rear joint with 2,5 cm crack at tail of spine. Head of spine and lower corner of rear board neatly and discretely restored at some point, probably around 1900. With Swedish music critic, editor and book-collector Fredrik Vult von Steijern's embossed and gilt book-plate on paste-down endpaper. Pierre-Daniel Huet (1630-1721) was a French scholar, translator and clergyman. In 1652 Huet was invited to Stockholm by Queen Christina of Sweden, a journey which was documented in his Iter Suecicum. This is a collection of epistles, elegies, odes and epigrams.

Publicación: París, Apud Jacobum Estienne, 1709. Descripción: 4º (150 x 90 mm). Encuadernación plena piel de época con decoraciones y dorados en el lomo. Publicado en latín con algunos pasajes en griego. Quinta edición. Estado de conservación: Bueno. Papel limpio. Muy buen ejemplar. Notas: Pierre Daniel Huet (1630-1721) nació en Caen y fue Obispo de Avranches. En 1651 se traslada a París. Fue admitido en la Academia en 1674. En 1679 publicó una de sus grandes obras, la Demonstratio evangélica. Escribió contra el Tractatus theologico-politicus de Spinoza, e intentó dotar raíces matemáticas para probar la veracidad de la Biblia. Otros datos: Exlibris: «Bernardo Valois y Bethancourt 1775» Clérigo diácono, Bernardo Valois Betancourt hizo gala de inusual inquietud por acercar la educación y la cultura a los habitantes de su pueblo natal, Puerto de la Cruz (Canarias), y tuvo la idea de fundar una biblioteca pública, pues había acopiado muchos y buenos libros de los autores clásicos en latín, castellano, francés e inglés sobre variadas materias, incluidas las mecánicas. Este ejemplar perteneció a dicha biblioteca.

Basane Marron Clair. Etat : Bon État. Petri Danielis Huetii, episcopi abrincensis, Carmina: Page de titre, VI, 130 pp., 12 pp. non chiffrées pour l'index rerum. Belle reliure de basane marron clair, dos à 5 nerfs richement orné,coiffe inférieure proprement arasée, petite fente en partie inférieure du mors du 1er plat. Larousse dans le Dictionnaire universel du XIXème indique que "Huetii Carmina" sont des poésies Grecques et Latines fort estimées pour leur élégance et la correction du style. Nous sommes loin des oeuvres du pourfendeur du cartésianisme, mais il convient de se souvenir que dès l'age de vingt ans il était reconnu comme un des plus grands savants de son temps. Né en 1630 à Caen il mourut à Paris en 1721 et passa sa vie à étudier, àtel point qu'il dut abandonner la charge épiscopale d'Avranches car ses ouailles se plaignaient de ne pas pouvoir le voir. Ilpassait son temps à étudier en bibliothèque!!! Bel exemplaire.
