This anthology collected by Charles Cheers (1859-1941) contains extracts of speeches, starting in 1879 that address the question of Home Rule in Ireland. The Government of Ireland Act of 1920 began a process in Northern Ireland that led to the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition, an uncommon book. Red cloth binding with blinstamped ruling, gilt titling, and a decorative devie on the front cover; titling in gilt on the spine. Clean text; viii, 118 pages. Light spotting throughout. Previous-owner signature on the FFEP. Light rubbing; spine faded to a brown colour [gilt remains bright]. Mild wear; top corners bumped. A solid copy. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
