Other. Original antique copper engraving, hand colored in outline when published. A fine and highly decorative map of Cardigan Shire. This English county map of Cardigan is highly decorative with its figurative and allegoric title cartouche, as well the map is ornated with heraldic family coats of arms. Above the title cartouche the Prince of Wales's Feathers. More over we find as an additional decoration ships and a compass rose in the Irish Sea. On the map itsself are many placenames given, smaller villages or settlements also appear, also rivers, lakes, mountains and woods are also engraved. In excellent condition, full margins as published. Minor offsetting of the outline colors. 385 by 507mm (15 by 20 inches). 385 by 507mm (15 by 20 inches).

An attractive map of Cardiganshire, decorated with vignette illustrations to the title cartouche and distance scale at the lower edge. Three crests to the upper and right edges of image, including the royal crest and the three feathers insignia of the Prince of Wales. Illustrations of ships to the sea. Manuscript number at upper margin. Blank on verso. With the exception of some extremely light soiling to margins, in excellent condition with good bright colour. Koeman, Vol II, 5540:2.
