Hardcover, 8½" x 5½", with dust jacket 380 pages Orange cloth-bound boards with gold type to spine, light-grey endpapers, frontis photograph (Greek Prime Minister Veniselos), 3 maps, 18 b&w photographs, Sources, Bibliography, and Index. Chanak is today called Cannakale, an insignificant little sea port on the Dardanelles. But in 1922 the British Government (headed by a coalition of Lloyd George, Churchill & Birkenhead) decided to wage war with only 3000 troops against the whole Turkish army. Trace the events leading to this disastrous decision, and the results. It was the most serious British crisis in the Middle East until Suez. Learn, too, of the motives and methods of the first 20th century dictator, Kemal Ataturk. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode, pocket etc. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket.
