Spine with gilt title, similarly worn and marked, with creasing and nicks to head and foot. Inner front hinge weak and splitting behind the pastedown / endpaper; rear hinge beginning to split (not surprising considering the sheer size and weight of the book). Rough cut page edges heavily spotted. Endpapers spotted and marked. Printer/Publisher blind-stamp to ffep for Palmer & Howe, Princess Street Manchester. Contents generally bright with only light scattered spotting, in the most part. A mixture of colour and black & white illustrations with the coloured plates being lovely and bright. The gentle images, often combined with the humorous, text provides an interesting insight into gentile Victorian life.
