There are large numbers of algorithms for classification of data mining. Single algorithm is not efficient for classification of data and recognize their pattern and behavior .There is a key term known as ensemble learning which means Combining two or more classifiers for efficient result. I have used the KDD'99 dataset for the experiment which have 41 features labeled either as normal or as an attack. In this book I have represented how graphical machine learning tool weka can be used for data mining and how ensemble learning can be implemented using weka.I have used three classifiers with the Bagging and Boosting ensemble learning approach which are complementary naïve bayes and two are rule based classifiers, part and jrip. My experiment shows that bagging improves the efficiency of the rule based classifiers as well as of naïve Bayes. However, the rule based classifiers become more efficient with bagging and boosting techniques. 52 pp. Englisch.

This is because, complex relationships can be seen as well between the features and intrusion classes contributing to high computational costs in processing tasks, subsequently leads to delays in identifying intrusions. Feature selection is thus important in detecting intrusions by allowing the data mining system to focus on what is really important.

In this work, an intelligent network intrusion detection and prevention system is presented for detecting and preventing network attacks that incorporates a knowledge based system and data mining techniques. Hybrid data mining process model is followed for data mining tasks to extract hidden knowledge from KDDCup'99 intrusion dataset. J48 decision tree, JRip rule induction, Naïve Bayes and Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) Neural Network are adopted to construct a predictive model on total datasets of 63, 661 instances. This work supports network administrators to fill the knowledge gap they have to detect and prevent network attacks efficiently and effectively. Experimental result shows that, the proposed system performs 91.43 percent and 83 percent detection accuracy and user acceptance, respectively. The system cannot update the knowledge of prevention techniques automatically which need further researches.
