Una edición tan corregida que incluso incluye dos páginas para señalar las principales correcciones que debían realizarse, también en los grabados, en los ejemplares de sus ediciones anteriores. El texto de Andry es una detallada exposición clínica y anatomopatalógica de todos los tipos de lombrices y gusanos que encontró que podían existir en el cuerpo humano o invadirlo, acompañada de numerosas observaciones y experimentos realizados por él, tanto sobre las propias lombrices y sus efectos, como sobre los tratamientos convenientes y sus resultados. En numerosas ocasiones los grabados responden a cómo se ven las lombrices y otros parásitos a través del microscopio. Junto a los detallados grabados desplegables de diferentes tipos de tenias, llama la atención el grabado de una 'especie de animal expulsado por una mujer en Hanover', t.1, p. 319 (ver fotografía). Por otra parte, Andry, que a la sazón empleaba uno de los microscopios más potentes inventados por Anthony van Leeuwenhoek, encajó los espermatozoides en la categoría de lombrices. Precisamente a este respecto, Andry había escrito en 1704 a Étienne François Geoffroy (1672-1731) porque sus observaciones confirmaban la tesis que este acababa de sostener en la Disertación sobre la generación del hombre por los gusanos espermáticos que había presentado en la Acadèmie Royal des Sciences, en la que, tras comenzar preguntándose si el hombre puede proceder de un gusano, exponía que todos los animales se reproducen por el mismo mecanismo de la fecundación espermatozoide del óvulo femenino. Geoffroy le contestó agradeciéndole el testimonio y le autorizó a difundir en francés la disertación que había presentado en latín. Así lo hizo Andry, traduciéndola y publicándola en 1705, e incorporándola como apéndice tanto en la segunda (1714, reimp. 1715) como en la tercera (1741) edición de este su tratado sobre los gusanos en el cuerpo humano. Andry, pues, fue uno de los primeros autores en rechazar las teorías en liza de la generación espontánea y de la generación mediante huevos. Igualmente, como Andry afirmaba que el tabaco consumido con parquedad podía contribuir a la eliminación de algunas infestaciones de gusanos, también mantuvo al final del segundo volumen, en su traducción al francés, la tesis del médico de Luis XIV, Gui-Crescent Fagon (1638-1718), de que el consumo abusivo de tabaco acortaba la vida, que ya figuraba en la primera edición en 12º de 1699 (reimpresa in 8º, 1700).
