First Edition. Long Island set Hubin listed mystery novel of a kidnapping. "Everything seems as usual - swims, cocktail parties, motors, yachts, pretty women, smart men - and flirtations. One especial flirtation which is to have terrible consequences begins at once". Very Good but for rather serious dampstain discoloration to cloth at rear cover, gift inscription at front endpaper, in Very Good dustjacket, chips at spine ends, mild dampstain at rear panel.

First Edition. With Copyright by Arthur Somers Roche, 1933. With the previous Collier magazine copyright date of 1932. Scarce in dustjacket which has been preserved intact as it came from a private SPA collection with the small number code "G.469" lightly inked at the top of the right-hand corner of the front panel of the dustjacket (not affecting the title) and at the top right-hand corner of the front free endpaper. A thriller involving the kidnapping of The President of the USA. The book is in very good condition in the original dustjacket with its original price of $2.00 intact at the top of the inside front flap. Bound in finely yellow black cloth boards stamped brightly in black ink on the front boards and the spine. The hinges are tight; book is clean and apparently unread. The dustjacket features several small photo vignettes of some of the major characters. The dustjacket has chipping to the top and bottom of the spine ends. With a narrow strip of brown reinforcing tape along the verso of the spine. Otherwise, a scarce, well-preserved book and dustjacket from 1933. First Edition.
