Wardle amassed an impressive library and was often called the "Socrates of State Street" [Salt Lake City, Utah]. Parts of the original dust jacket (no longer intact) have been mounted to the preliminary pages. A handful of pages with underlining. John Symonds met Crowley in 1946 and became his literary executor. He subsequently wrote multiple biographies of the British occultist.

Bound in blue cloth which is rather darkened in places, with spine lettering which has faded almost to illegibility. This copy lacks the front free endpaper and is lightly foxed to the extremities; nevertheless it is a sound, sturdy copy.

Some wear and staining to the cloth, browning and spotting to page edges, old marks from long-vanished adjacent tape to endpapers, a fairly decent copy overall in the original pictorial dust jacket bearing Crowley's infamous self-portrait on the front panel. The jacket is worn and chipped at the edges and has old tape on the verso holding it all together. While it sounds dreadful, it s not so bad and it shows quite well. Not at all a common book in the stunning jacket. ? A primary source biography, Symons was Crowley's literary executor upon his death. Early biography of Crowley. Contains Gerald Yorke's very useful bibliography.

Jacket has wrinkles and a few chips with loss along the top edge, including some scuffs at the bottom edge of the cover jacket. Boards are lightly scuffed at the corners. Text and photos are bright and clean. Good to very good. Written by the literary executor for the estate of the notorious Aleister Crowley, this biography provides an intimate look into the life of this mysterious man and the cult which he founded.

Generally a clean and sound copy in a very worn, creased, chipped and rubbed wrapper that is price-clipped and had taped repairs along top edge and internally to tail of spine area but is still bright.
