Contemporary brown half leather binding, marble paper covered boards, gilt bands + gilt lettering on spine. Original white eps. Covers : rubs top/bottom of spine + corners + outside edges, slight scuffs to marble paper but clean and attractive. Contents : slight very occasional foxing else very clean & tight & unfoxed. Bright attractive set. VG.

Two octovo in full leather, fine binding, five raised bands, tight bindings, unfoxed pages (uncut) , all original wraps(24 issues bound In with issues 23 and 24 being a joint issue, two book plates, else both volumes VG+++. Bound in is a letter from an admirer and critic: "I trust you will pardon a boy's mentioning what appears to him a trifling error in your novel 'Pendennis'". To which Thackery replys in his tiny script: "I think you have caught Mr. Pendennis is in a scrape from me.I assure you I am on that subject quite in the dark. .Your very faithful servant. W. M. Thackery." A first bound edition with originals bound in. Scarce ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
