Kenneth Wilbur Anglemyer, dit Kenneth Anger, né en 1927 à Santa Monica (Californie) est un réalisateur indépendant, acteur et auteur de courts métrages underground et expérimentaux considéré comme l un des plus influents de l histoire du cinéma, inspiré par le surréalisme, l homoérotisme et l occultisme. Il est l un des premiers réalisateurs américains ouvertement gay. Influencé par les Frères Lumière et Georges Méliès, il a lui-même influencé Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, John Waters et bien d autres cinéastes ainsi que de nombreux réalisateurs de clips vidéo et a travaillé avec le sexologue Alfred Kinsey, Jean Cocteau, Tennessee Williams, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Marianne Faithfull, etc. / Etats-Unis. Signed by Kenneth Anger and inscribed to a former owner on the title page. Bound in publisher's original plain brown wraps with photo-illustrated dust jacket, profusely photo-illustrated. Near Fine with lean to binding and toning to wraps at top and bottom edges. In a Very Good dust jacket with sunning to the pink spine type, light scratches to the surface, edge wear with chipping and some loss. The first appearance of Kenneth Anger's sensationalist swipe at Hollywood, packed with photos, gritty detail, and innuendo. The 1966 American printing was suppressed but a 1975 reissue brought it public, albeit not critical, acclaim. The book became a controversial classic of film history.
