In the 1930 s Shahn s first exhibition was in honour of the anarchists Sacco and Vanzetti, whom the American State murdered on flimsy evidence despite worldwide protests. Later, that pre-Warholian style of Shahn s influenced a generation of graphic designers (Andy included), Shahn s utopian socialism producing e.g. Skowhegan School and all its donated properties, lakes, forests, artist s houses, grants-what goes round comes round.
