Writing under the pseudonym H.G. Woodley he is best known for his treatise 'Certified' describing life in a mental hospital. H.G. Wells referred to Woodley as 'the other H.G.W.' and offered to publish 'Certified' at his own expense, and at the time of his death was about to write a preface to Woodley's 'That Which is Caesar's'.
