No Binding. Etat : Poor. 1st Edition. Sold and priced as a reading copy, due to overall poor condition, albeit a rare edition. Rare 1915, war-time edition with former owner's name inscribed on top right with date ('Alfred Binns, 4.4.32.'). Binns was a long-serving member of the FRCC and well known north-country rock climber. This edition of the FRCC Journal has interesting letters from members serving 'with the colours'/armed services during the war. To quote a letter from one member, Denis Murray, from a POW camp in Bodegraven: "I and another were caught two yards from the other side of the moat and a few days after they discovered our tunnel". This volume is in poor condition - lacking its cover and the stitch-binding is just about holding. Pages are fox-marked and there are extensive signs of previous damp throughout (with dried out marks, some dark). Some pages are loose and have ragged ends - a couple have small pieces missing. No repairs have been attempted apart from a small cellotape repair to the front page. This Journal is thus sold as a 'reading copy' for research purposes, of particular interest, perhaps, to rock-climbing and military historians. B. & W. photographs.
