Kirkham Priory - built by Sir Walter and Adelina L'Espec in 1121, who as a result of their only son being killed in a horseriding accident, decided to devote part of his estate to the Church. Wood Engraving, handcoloured, plate size 7.25 X 4.5 ins, 18.5 x 11.5 cms, mounted and ready to frame, mount size approx. 12 x 10 ins, 30 x 25 cms, V.G, ca 1880s. *An attractive and impressive view of the ruined abbey with cattle, herdsman and people in the foreground. Scan can be requested. Colouring not contemporary, but delicately and expertly executed.
