Produced in the workshop of Mirza Mohammad "Khalaf-e Marhum" (son of the deceased) Karbalayi Hossein Tabrizi. Dated Rabi' al-avval 1266 (September 1850) Name of the scribe appears to be Khalil ibn Mirza . Abd al-Vahab Tabrizi. The first-ever illustrated Persian lithographed book is the 1259/1843 edition of Maktabi's Leili o Majnun (Nafisi, 1945-46, 1958). Ulrich Marzolph. That edition contained 4 illustrations. The book offered here was printed just 7 years after that publication. Lithography was introduced to Persia through Russia and the first lithographic printing press was established in Tabriz, where it began to operate in 1832/1833. However, the number of published books remained insignificant until the middle of the 1840s. (Olimpiada P. Shcheglova). Rare Qajar era illustrated lithographed book.
