Innengelenke geplatzt. Titel gestempelt. Tafel 15 am unteren Bund mit Japan beklebt. Durchgehend altersbedingt schwach gebräunt. Sonst innen in schöner Erhaltung. "Morgan was engaged in the preparation of this second edition when he was taken seriously ill. Editorial responsibility was then assumed by Morgan's friend and colleague, John Frederick France (1818-1900), who published the Lectures the year following Morgan's death" (Slg. Becker 264). - "Das Buch, das übrigens von Zeitgenossen nur selten erwähnt wird, hat gewiss seinen Zweck erfüllt. Es handelt von den Krankheiten der Bindehaut, Hornhaut, Regenbogenhaut, Leder-, Ader- und Netzhaut, von bösartigen Geschwülsten, vom Star und seinen Operationen, von der Pupillen-Bildung, von der Ein- und Ausstülpung, von Tränen-Leiden. Die Tafeln sind sehr lehrreich. Übrigens habe ich eine so gewaltige Lidschwellung in Folge von Eiterung der Neugeborenen, wie sie auf Tafel XII dargestellt ist, niemals in meinem Leben gesehen" (Hirschberg õ 668, S. 288). - Die vorliegende 2. Auflage ist insofern von großem Interesse, das sie eine ausführliche Lebensbeschreibung Morgans enthält. - Hirsch IV, 266. Sprache: Englisch.
