(reliure de l'époque). Première édition complète. Ancien secrétaire de Grimm, Jakob Heinrich Meister (1744-1826) poursuivit sa Correspondance littéraire jusqu'en 1813. Il était en relations avec tout ce que l'Europe comptait d'hommes de lettres et d'érudits. Sa correspondance avec Madame de Staël va de la fin du règne de Louis XVI à la Restauration, mais nous n'en avons que la partie passive, conservée dans la famille Reinhart de Winterthur.
