EARLY EDITION circa 1914 (first published by A. & C. Black in 1912), oblong 4to, 220 x 290 mm, 8¾ x 11½ inches, yellow cloth gilt lettered on upper cover and spine, oval coloured mounted plate, 64 pages. 30 utterly enchanting, full page colour plates, 2 smaller coloured illustrations, most of young children. Each plate faces a nursery rhyme with the original tunes harmonised by Alfred Moffat. Small very slight faint stain at upper left corner of upper cover, no inscriptions, a little faint foxing to front endpaper, 15 mm (¾") closed tear to page 49 at lower edge next to centrefold, another smaller at same place on page 58, inner joints cracked but binding tight and firm, contents clean and bright. A very good plus copy, lacking dustwrapper. The first edition was printed by Edmund Evans in Swan Street for A. & C. Black, our copy is printed by Edmund Evans in Rose Place so is a little later.
