The documents presented here describe the Spanish expedition into West Florida, led by Don Tristan de Luna and supervised by Don Luis de Velasco, the Viceroy of New Spain. Luna's expedition ultimately failed, but it paved the way for future Spanish colonization of Florida. Priestley, librarian of the Bancroft Library, translated and edited the documents and provides a valuable historical introduction. Number eight in the publications of the Florida State Historical Society. HOWES P604, "aa.".
