Numerous illustrations in B&W and colour throughout. Marsden Hartley was perhaps the most important North American Modernist of the first half of the 20th century. This volume brings together for the first time the paintings, drawings, poetry, letters and journal entries by Hartley from two periods spent with the Mason family in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia in 1935 and 1936.
