Im Januar 1885 erschien die erste deutsche Ausgabe. Das Vorwort von Friedrich Engels erschien vorab im Heft Nr. 1 der ?Neuen Zeit? Der Text ?England 1845 und 1885? wurde von Friedrich Engels (1820 - 1895) für die britische Zeitschrift Commonweal verfasst und im März 1885 erstmals veröffentlicht. Im Juni Heft der Neuen Zeit erschien der Artikel erstmals in deutscher Sprache. Die Übersetzung erfolgte von ihm selbst. Laut dem MEW Band 21 übernahm Engels 1887 den Artikel in den Anhang der amerikanischen Ausgabe seines Buches Die Lage der arbeitenden Klasse in England . The first German edition appeared in January 1885. The foreword by Friedrich Engels appeared in advance in issue no. 1 of the Neue Zeit . The english text ?England 1845 und 1885? was written for the British magazine Commonweal The english text was first published in March 1885. The article appeared in German for the first time in the June issue of Neue Zeit. Engels did the translation himself. According to MEW Volume 21, Engels added the article to the appendix of the American 1887 edition of his book The Situation of the Working Class in England .
