Printed Postcard. Etat : Fine. Edition Not Stated. One 6 x ¼" postcard printed offset recto and verso, one color illustration. This is a Fotofolio postcard that reproduces Art Spiegelman's colorful illustration for the front cover of the February 13th, 1993 cover of "The New Yorker" entitled "Valentine's Day". On the reverse side, the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist of "Maus: A Survivor's Tale" has created an ORIGINAL DRAWING in black ink of the iconic Maus side-by-side with Peanuts' Charlie Brown BEARING THE PRESENTATION "Dear Jean Lewis / THANX!" inside two word balloons and additionally BOLDLY SIGNED "art spiegelman" below. We acquired this directly from the late Ms. Lewis - a nationally syndicated American newspaper columnist in the seventies and eighties - prior to her passing. She was a good friend of cartoonist Charles "Sparky" Schulz, which is the reason why Spiegelman drew this whimsical image (we believe) sometime in the mid to late nineties. Signed Presentation Copy from the Artist.

Hardcover, in dust jacket. First edition first printing. Signed by Spiegelman on verso ffep. 1992 Pulitzer Prize Winner. Subject to protests and book-burnings, banned from school curricula, criticized by portions of the literary world, Maus forced the world to reimagine how we think about and approach conversations of racism, war, guilt, and memory. Hardcover. Etat : Very good. Etat de la jaquette : Fine. First Edition. The second volume of Spiegelman's holocaust tale, probably the most critically acclaimed graphic novel. It was awarded a special Pulitzer Prize in 1992; to date, the only graphic novel so honored. The first Maus graphic novel appeared as a paperback original in 1986, after having been serialized in RAW comics. When this sequel was published, Pantheon reissued the original Maus as Maus I in paperback and hardback and offered copies of Maus II in the same formats. Both volumes were also available in boxed sets. This is the stand-alone hardcover first edition of Maus II. 136 pages. First edition (stated). A near fine copy but for fading along the top edge of the boards in a near fine dust jacket. This copy was inscribed by Spiegelman soon after publication, with a large drawing of the character Vladek. Promotional material for a reading at a Washington, D.C., bookstore is laid in.
