In two small volumes (416mm x 258mm) recently and beautifully rebound in quarter black morocco and marbled boards. New endpapers. Volume 1: [10], iii - viii, 3-712. Volume 2: [4], 713 - 1392, 1387* - 1931*, 1394 - 1410, [2]. Complete with the frontispiece, title, dedication, list of subscribers, contents, text, frontispiece to volume 2, title to volume 2, contents of volume 2, text, appendix to both volumes, index to both volumes, and instructions to the binder. Illustrated with 121 magnificent full-page engraved plates, including several folding. Two plates called for in the Instructions, Tower Street Ward and East India House, are not present; however, two plates not called for, Merchant Taylor's School and St. George Hospital, are present. Included among the illustrations are A View of London about the Year 1560, a Plan of London Fortified by the Parliament, Plan of London in Ruins After the Fire, The Tower of London, London Bridge, Views of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, a Map of Ten Miles Circumference, and many more. The title page for volume 2 incorrectly states Volume 1, even though all other information of the page is correct. A few pages with corners professionally repaired with no text loss, and aside from short tears at the fore-edge of a few leaves, a fine, clean, remarkably preserved copy of this monumental work. 0.
