Hardcover. Etat : Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 18 pages. Published in 1974. Commemorative Portfolio of Polaroid photographs. One of the most collectible art photography collections of the 20th century. Limited Edition of 1000 copies. The first and only edition. Precedes and should not be confused with the 1975 "The SX-50 Experience: 12 Instant Images", a different - and just as beautiful - Portfolio subsequently published by The Polaroid Company. Published in a Portfolio format only. There is no ISBN. The Portfolio is now rare. A stupendous production by Allan Porter and Polaroid: Giant Elephant-Size Portfolio: Black linen cloth slipcase with metallic-silver titles pasted on the cover, as issued. The matching tray has a black cloth pullout ribbon to ease removal from the slipcase. Photographs by twelve contributing photographers, a Who's Who of photography then as now. Each sheet has a facsimile signature on recto by the photographer, making it eminently suitable for framing if so desired or keeping together as a complete set. Seven individual pages of text by the curator, Allan Porter, the founder of Camera Magazine, the best magazine on photography in the world. Both the Portfolio and the sheets were printed in Lucerne, Switzerland (the home of Camera Magazine) on Cardboard Bristol Sanitized Very White 320 grams coated stock paper (for the images) and archival, hand-made cream stock paper (for the text) to the highest standards. The reproduction quality is outstanding in every respect. Without DJ, as issued. Presents, in a sumptuous collectible format, "Twelve Instant Images On Polaroid Type 105 Positive/Negative Film". A sublime keeper of a Souvenir Keepsake. The Polaroid Corporation introduced its new film by commissioning twelve great living photographers, whose contribution is presented in alphabetical order: Ansel Adams, David Bailey, Walker Evans, Yousuf Karsh, Ulrich Mack, Sarah Moon, Lennart Nilsson, Kishin Shinoyama, Jeanloup Sieff, Josef Sudek, Oliviero Toscani, and Minor White. The sheer variety of the resulting imagery reflects the style, subject matter, and aesthetics of the individual photographer. Among them, Adams photographed the weather-beaten window of a woodshed. David Bailey and Jeanloup Sieff each contributed a stunning female nude. Walker Evans photographed an old, dilapidated wall. Yousuf Karsh took a heroic portrait of Marshal McLuhan, the Canadian thinker (whose every prescient insight has since been validated and confirmed). Kishin Shinoyama photographed two "show-off" Japanese tattooed models. Josef Sudek submitted a hushed still life. Oliviero Toscani, in homage to the sponsor and his subject, photographed Andy Warhol holding his trademark Polaroid camera with a fresh self-portrait emerging from it, in a multiple that mimics the artist's style. An absolute "must-have" title for photography collectors. This Portfolio is a copy of the Limited Edition of 1000 copies. Each contributing photographer facsimile-signed on recto their Contribution. This title is an art photography classic. As far as we know, this is one of only two copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Most sets have been broken up and disappeared because previous owners framed their favorite images. Please note: Should NOT be confused with the 1975 "The SX-50 Experience: 12 Instant Images", a different - and just as beautiful - Portfolio subsequently published by The Polaroid Company. A rare copy thus. 12 loose plates. Twelve of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. A fine collectible copy. no.
