Coulouma, Master Printer in Argenteuil, and signed by the illustrator on the colophon leaf. Translated by Jessie Haynes. Critical introduction by Andrew Lang. 2 volumes. Small quarto. Bookplate in each volume. A beautiful set, entirely uncut. The publisher, George Macy, noted that upon reception of their copies, many subscriber's felt "cheated because the two volumes were paperbound. We had to bind in hard cases, American fashion, most of the copies." The two volumes, the thirteenth publication of the press, are quite scarce in the original wrappers, especially in this condition. Each volume is printed on thick Velin D'arches paper. The woodcut illustrations were executed by master woodcut artist, Frans Masereel. Included are twenty-two woodcut illustrations, 11 of them full-page. A very collectible set in the publisher's original binding. Book.
