The last page 232 folding "Observations of the Qualities of His Majesty's Ship" 6 attractive engraved chapter headpieces 2 tail pieces. Bookplate of R.C Fiske to front paste down. The contents clean and tight. Bound in the original full tan calf binding, some cracking along spine edge with chipping to the head of the spine small 3cm x 2cm loss to top spine edge of the rear board and edge of spine, the binding clean and tight. A very good copy in the original state. First issued in 1731, these are the fundamental regulations governing "the organization and discipline of the British Navy. Up to 1731 every commander-in-chief had issued his own code of instructions to his ships, but in that year appeared the first set of King's Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, to be followed by many others as they were periodically revised (Uden & Cooper, A Dictionary of British Ships and Seamen).
