Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Role of governmental and non-governmental organizations in rural development is a hot topic for debate in the changing global perspective. However, this topic has never been studied rigorously and hence there is a lack of literature. This study analyzed, in detail, the role of different organizations in the community development, by considering a case of a developing country. The example considered showed that government is loosening its relevancy in the development works and in the changing perspectives non-governmental organizations are found to have higher efficiencies with better impact on the rural community development efforts. Hence, it is recommended to encourage the non-governmental organization in the rural development whereas government organizations could play a role of a guardian. The book may be important for students of development economics, as well as for scholars and professionals in this field. Policy makers and government authorities will find it helpful in the decision-making process regarding rural/regional development. Development workers have benefit for policy advocacy purpose: for widening the role of local non-governmental development organizations.
