Etat : Fair. 1909. 442 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with gilt lettering. Inscriptions to front pastedown and endpaper. Rough cut pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, creased corners and foxing. Hinges are cracked, with some exposed netting and a loose binding. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Cloth. Etat : Good. No Jacket. Second Edition, Revised. Original red cloth, stout 8vo, pp.x, 438. 18 bw plates, 18 bw maps - all present and clean. The cloth is reasonably bright, rather lightly but extensively waterstained, with a few traces of paper ( dustwrapper ? ) on cover. Other than the marking, the only other indication of a dampish history is slight bowing of the boards - the text is clean and tight. About Good. Heavy book weighing c1200g when parcelled, exceeding the postage quotation default weight of 1000g and thus incurring extra postage over the default for orders from overseas and those sent by 1st class post in the UK. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Green cloth covered boards, cream cloth covered spine with gilt borders and titling. The boards have wear about the edges, corners from shelving, some scuffing and marks from handling and storage. The spine has handling marks and wear from shelving. The titling is just a little faded. The boards and spine are pleasant, healthy. Gilt trim at the top (worn, but still amiable). Rough cut to the side and bottom. Within, the contents are benign and contented. Some of the tissue guards, some of the pages have smears of foxing. The frontis and end pages are tanned. Otherwise, the pages are thick, hale, sound, sure, clean, creamy, companionable, enthusiastic, meticulous, assiduous, agreeable, proud. fk.
