Illustrated printed softcovers, yapp edges (chipping head & foot of spine, some scuffing, edgewear), still G copy. First edition scarce magazine edited by Lummis. Of particular interest, this issue features the first installment of the translation into English of the 1630 Spanish original of Fray Alonso de Benavides to Fray Juan de Santander detailing the early missionary efforts amongst the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico. The translation was executed by Emma Ayer (1845-1932) whose husband Edward E. Ayer (1841-1927) was noted bibliophile and collector whose 50,000 piece library were absorbed into the Newberry Library.
