Book has extensive foxing throughout the pages, with owners' names, sticker, and notes on the front and back endpapers, with the owner's name being written along the textblock as well, with moderate rubbing to front and back covers, as well as moderate edge and corner wear, with the bottom half of the spine missing, with the book having a slight warping to it, with a slight cocking to the spine, with moderate bumping to the sorners, and moderate sunfading to the spine. otherwise book is in fair condition with clean covers, with intact edges and corners, crisp pages, and a solid binding.

Wise, Against the Know-Nothings. By An American. [ Howes A287; Sabin 87110]. This is a primary source for studying the Americanism movement in politics. Henry Alexander Wise was a U. S. Congressman and later Governor of Virginia (elected in 1855); still later he was a brigadier general for the C.S.A.
