Nice clean and tight copy, albeit with wear to top and bottom of spine and edges of the boards. good, decorated brown cloth (hardcover) edgewear to cloth.

Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 4to hardcover volume in tan gold embossed boards. Spine and boards intact but soiled and fading to colors.2 names on endpapers but no splits. Book got wet on right side at some point causing light watermark thru out getting stronger to the rear. The folding plates and map are not affected map is fine. Only interior damage is to 3 plates in a section. of lithos on more glossy paper. 2 show a little adhesion and last one has some damage. Nothing stuck at present time. 378 pages ending with a large foldout of the great fire that is in good condition.

"When I published the first of edition of this work in 1882, I purchased from Mr. Spurr what veneers he had reaminging on hand, and used a portion of them on the back cover of the book, reserving one hundred pieces which I have kept for twenty years and have now used them on this edition, all of which are numbers. The veneers are now quite rare for all the wood remaining of the Old Elm was destroyed in a fire that occurred in Mr. Spurr';s factory some years ago. Scarce book. Light wear to covers, and last fold out plate in book. Else a real nice clean tight copy. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
