Bel exemplaire imprimé sur beau papier fort et gris illustré de 12 très belles reproductions de tableaux de G. Rouault gravées par les Maîtres Imprimeurs Draeger Frères. Un des deux mille exemplaires numérotés sur vélin pur fil du Marais. EXEMPLAIRE EN PARFAIT ÉTAT. Livres.
Chemise et étui. Etat : Très bon. Rouault (illustrateur). In folio en feuilles sous chemise et étui d'éditeur. 12 feuillets et 12 hors-texte en couleurs de Georges Rouault. Tirage limité à 2000 exemplaires tous numérotés.

Tan portfolio within a grey portfolio, which then slides into a grey slipcase. Contains 28 pages of text done in 7 unbound signatures plus 12 unbound mounted color plates. Written in French, no translation. Text/ plate pages are in excellent condition. Tan portfolio is rubbed at spine and edges. Plain grey portfolio is in very nice condition as well. Title label on sun faded/soiled spine. Plain grey slipcase is noticeably soiled and sunned, all edges rubbed and worn. Always carefully wrapped and shipped in cardboard boxes to protect your purchase.

Very handsome Numbered Limited Edition [& 30 Specials] produced under the immediate direction of Rouault himself. 'The themes are religious, and the dense, vehement colours have the brilliancy of brass instruments. Wholly invented by the painter, his colours never imitate nature . Rouault was a real Fauve' [Courthion]. Printed by Draegers, one of those French printers who 'guarantee first-class standards . Contents, portfolio and chemise Fine; some uneven toning and soil to the slipcase but still a lovely example with minimal signs of use.
