Second impression. Two volumes, the first inscribed by Noel Coward, 'For Charlie from Noel', the second, 'For Kate, with all my love, Noel, 1923'. Spines faded and slightly rubbed, cloth soiled and stained (largely to spines, and upper board of second volume), some offsetting to free endpapers, else a good, sound, internally clean set. The first two volumes of 'À la recherche du temps perdu'. Coward was around eighteen years old when he formed a close friendship with Proust's translator. His play, 'Easy Virtue', first performed in 1925, features a character found reading a later volume of the novel, 'Sodom and Gomorrah'.
