Roberto Valturio (Rimini, February 10, 1405 - August 30, 1475) was a famous Italian historian in the service of Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, lord of Rimini. De Re Militari, in addition to celebrating the virtues of Prince Sigismondo, is dedicated to the description of the most modern military techniques, with a broad and precocious interest in artillery and gunpowder. Completed in 1455, it was printed, very quickly for the time, for the first time in 1472 and then, with Remusio's comment, in 1483, an edition which was illustrated by the famous woodcuts which made it a great publishing fortune, and which were , if not copied, by Leonardo da Vinci for the construction of the machines for Ludovico Sforza. 16mo secolo.
