Near fine in original olive-green cloth with decoration and lettering in gilt to spine and boards, top edge gilt. An ex-library copy from the Case Memorial Library Seminary Foundation (Hartford, CT) & Pitts Theology Library at Emory (Atlanta, GA) with the occasional embossed stamp, check-out slip and sleeve on rear paste-down endpaper, hand-lettered labels on lower-spine and contemporary Pitts Theology Library label affixed to front pastedown. Off-setting to endpapers, slight dulling to gilt on spine with subtle sunning, fore-corners lightly bumped. Overall, however, a nice, square and bright copy, free of any non-library marks. Part of the Hartford Collection, confirmed by Pitts as deaccessioned material.

Covers travels from Peking to the Yellow river, to Hsi-an Fu, capital of the province of Shensi. Hsian Fu to the frontier of Kansu, to the capital, along the Northern road from Lan-chou Fui back to Shensi. * Then across Shensi from Kansu to Shansi, return to Peking through Shansi and Chihli.
