Facsimile Edition. Hardbound 8vo (8.5 inches tall) 312 pages. Marbled endpapers. Description: This is a volume from the Notable Trials Library under the general editorship of Alan M Dershowitz who wrote a special introduction for this facsimile edition. This is a facsimile reprinting of a book published in 1946 by William Hodge & Company as part of the British Notable Trials series. Book design by Daniel B Bianchi and Selma Ordewer. From the publisher: ''On 3 September 1939 Great Britain and France declared war on Germany. Broadcasts of Nazi Germany's radio, the RRF, began that same month. As the war progressed, its English-language broadcasts became systematic and increasingly sophisticated, due in great part to William Joyce, an American citizen possessing a fraudently obtained British passport. Joyce's last broadcast from Hamburg was on 30 April 19454, the day Adolf and Evan Braun Hitler committed suicide. Joyce fled with his wife to Flensburg, near the Danish border. A month later, a British officer recognized his voice, and as Joyce reached for his forged identity papers, a second officer, fearing Joyce was drawing a weapon, shot and wounded him. In June, Joyce was returned to Britain and charged with high treason. The trial began 17 September 1945 at the Old Bailey. There was never any question of what Joyce had done. The questions centered on his citizenship and the letter of the law regarding treason.'' BINDING/CONDITION: from a series with semi-uniform bindings -- quarter leather (leather at the spine); with gilt decorations; raised spine bands; all edges gilt; ribbon place marker; Fine condition. ISBN: B000GKR9H6.

Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This is a 1946 first edition concerning the trial of Lord Haw Haw, William Joyce. It is in the Notable British Trials series with no library stamps or ownership signatures within. There is no dust jacket but the famous red binding and gold lettering is in good condition. The famous Notable British Trials Series is very collectable and this is one of 12 I am moving on now. (January 2023) A fair price I think for a desirable volume in the series.
