Soft cover. Etat : Very Good Plus. Reprint. 1995. Second printing (the first was in 1993). 20pp., black and white illustrations within the text and a full-page cartoon at the end. This is a scarce little guide for visitors that takes an unusual look at Edinburgh. It was written by Irvine Welsh and Kevin Williamson before Welsh made his name with publication of 'Trainspotting' in 1993. They write in the foreword "We have tried to home in on the old Edinburgh. The parts where the ravages of commercialism and slick-talking conmen have left unsullied. The parts where you'll never find a MacDonalds or a Pizza Hut but where you will find local characters who eat smoked sausage and chips." The Scotsman wrote of the book "A daft and harmless trawl through the seamier side of Auld Reekie." The book is staple bound in card covers with titling and an illustration on the front cover. The book is in excellent condition with some light shelf wear on the covers. The contents are secure and clean with no inscription.
