Buena edición, impresa con buenos márgenes, de este interesante título de Louis Bertrand Castel, jesuita famoso por sus experiencias en el campo de la óptica y el color, que traza aquí un paralelismo entre las teorías de Newton y las de Descartes y censura que si bien el matemático inglés no cita más que tres veces a Descartes, siempre para criticarlo ferozmente, lo ha seguido tácitamente en todo, aunque contradiciéndolo. Castel se opone a las teorías científicas de Newton, que considera demasiado materialista, y desaprueba su comportamiento hacia Descartes, que hubiese necesitado un mayor grado de crítica abierta y correctamente razonada.
