The first 50 numbered copies made up the deluxe issue, which featured hand-marbled endpapers (the remaining 350 with plain endpapers). All copies of this edition feature a printer's error in the sixth line of the third page, reading "Look¾a big cat escapes," which were hand-corrected with Wite-Out by the author and David Tibetonly one copy exists uncorrected. The author's first book, The White Road collects all Weighell's extant published fiction at the time, including enlarged versions of "The Stryx," "Second Death," and "The White Road," as well as a revised version of "The Greater Arcana." It also contains seven previously unpublished stories: "The Secret Place," "Some Day I'll Find You," "In the Shaft," "Which Way I Fly," "Necropolis," "Byerly Mount," and "The Ram Head Ring." On top of the James and Machen influences upon his workwith a focus on bibliophiles, antiquarians, and journalistshis work is marked by a deep interest in the occult and mythology.
