1002 + xliv pages, with Preface to the Second Edition (first was 1930), a Life of Chaucer, Canon and Chronology of Chaucer's Writings, notes on Language and Meter, and on the Text, Bibliography, Explanatory and Textual Notes, Glossary, Proper Names list. Frontispiece is b&w reproduction of early painting of Chaucer. Laid out in two columns. Royal 8vo (7-1/4" x 9-3/4"), blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration, crown/heel/corners worn, 3" split along backstrip at top front has been reglued, a few pages accidentally dog-eared, edges age-toned and top edge has stains. Marginalia and/or underscoring in ink observed on approximately 20 pages, the majority in Troilus and Criseyde.
