When Mr Dorrit's debt is excused, he is anxious to forget his inglorious past and be accepted back into the best circles of society. Dickens criticizes the hierarchical society which would demand such an impossible thing of a man, and also questions which class of their acquaintance are good people and true friends. When one of London's biggest banks fail, everyone is affected, high and low alike.".

Hardcover. Etat : Very Good-. The book is a very attractive edition of Dickens works. Gilt and black design on the boards, still very clean. The boards have some very mild rubbing, the spine ends are worn some as are the corner tips. A little edgewear also, not too bad. The front endpaper has a small hole, paper lifted to front pastedown. The first blank pages have moderate foxing, throughout the book some occasional light foxing. Book is complete and intact, front illustration tissue intact. I also find a small spot at rear endpaper where the endpaper has a small tear.
