Détails bibliographiques

Titre : A set of thirty six new and correct maps of ...

Éditeur : [Turriff] Towie Barclay Castle: Heritage Press, 1980.

Date d'édition : 1980

Reliure : Hardcover

Signé : Signed by Author(s)

Description :

Oblong 4to, 300 X 400mm., general title-page issued by the publisher with a list of subscribers, facsimile of the original title-page and 36 single sheet maps, followed by a large folding map of Scotland by Moll with views in the side panels, quarter leather, green cloth sides, gilt, in orig. slip-case, a fresh copy. Number 46 of 500 copies, signed by the publisher, paper supplier, binder and printer. [A facsimile of Moll's atlas of 1725]. [There is no editorial or introduction to this reprint which is surprising and would have provided an opportunity for another signature to be added! An editor might have pointed out that there are 37 maps in the volume, not 36, the last one not issued in Moll's 'Thirty six maps.' The large folding map at the end is a facsimile of Moll's 'The North part of Britain called Scotland.' first published in 1714. As this large map is the most attractive in the volume due to the views decorating the borders, the omission of any mention of it is surprising. Presumably it is present in the Aberdeen University copy used for this reproduction but no collation of the atlas is given in their library catalogue.]. N° de réf. du libraire 22690
