At head of title: Pour la securite et l'honneur de la France. 214 pages, pictorial wrappers, uncut and unopned, little shelf-wear else very good. A collection of correspondence from and to the author by important military, aeronautical and political leaders of the day relative to his claim to have flown prior to the Wrights and on the conduct of military aeronautics in WWI. Ader (1841- 1925), a French engineer of note, claimed to have made powered flights in 1890 and 1897 in a power-driven monoplane fashioned after a bat. These flights, which were several years before the Wrights, have now been discounted by most historians but the claim still exists in many published accounts of aviation. Catalogue de la bibliotheque (Paris, Aero Club de France, 1922) - page 9; Locomotion Aerienne & Terrestre. Precurseurs et pionniers. (Paris, 1975)- number 241. N° de réf. du libraire 11624
