Jacques Wirtz started his practice in 1948 and is now succeeded by the next generation.
The published work, apart from residential assignments in Belgium and abroad, also contains less known public parks, such as the Avenue Roi Albert II in Brussels and the Carrousel gardens in Paris, as well as more recent work, such as the Ainwick Castle gardens in the UK.
The Chilean art photographer and Bill Bandt-follower Marco Valdivia took the photographs for this book, texts are from the English author Patrick Taylor, and layout was in the hands of Christian Diener.
This book of app. 600 pages is presented in a case with two separate volumes.

Marco Antonio Valdivia b. 1947 Antofagasta, Chile, Fine Arts Studies at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, at Yale and at the Royal College of Art in London with Bill Brandt. Active as a photographer and a painter. Patrick Taylor was born in France in 1938 and brought up in Scotland where he studied English Literature at Edinburgh University. After a career in academic publishing he became a garden writer specialising in design, garden history and garden plants. He is on the committee of the Royal Horticultural Society Library and lives and gardens in Somerset. Jacques Wirtz b. 1924 Antwerp Studied Landscape Architecture and Horticulture at the Tuinbouwschool, Vilvoorde. Has worked since 1950 as a landscape architect in Schoten, Belgium. Founded the contracting and design firms of Wirtz Landscape Architecture and Wirtz International which have designed and built gardens in Belgium and neighbouring countries, Spain, Portugal, England, Switzerland and the USA. Martin Wirtz b. 1963 Schoten Studied Landscape Architecture at the Tuinbouwschool, Melle, Has worked since 1986 as a landscape architect for Wirtz Landscape Architecture and Wirtz International. Peter Wirtz b. 1961 Schoten Studied Music, and later Landscape Architecture at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. Has worked since 1990 as a landscape architect for Wirtz Landscape Architecture and Wirtz International.
