Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. No Jacket. B/W Photographs (illustrateur). 1st Edition. These 95 pages of WWII stories were extracted from documentary films shoot in the 1939 to 19542 period. LEARN more about : John Grierson, Robert Flaherty, Arthur Elton, news-reels, fighting-men, civilian army, mass fear, pillar box, paravane, respirators, trams, buoyed mines, and black-out. Page 38 introduces a new word to the English language - Coventration. It seems to apply to the concentration to carry on bravely (stiff upper lip) after the bombing of Coventry. The (many) photos say more than the text. Some are military in nature and others are distinctly human interest. Cond : Boards are orangey-brown with burgundy lettering. Text begins on end-papers. D.J. is missing. Volume is tight, bright, square and clean. Book store stamp on title page. Name of p/o (1944) on front pastedown.
